What is top load?

A typical auto transport trailer has 2 levels (decks). Top-loading will protect your vehicle from possible fluid leaks from other vehicles above it, in addition, there's less chance for small rock chips to occur. In the normal course of work, truckers would place some vehicles on top and some on the bottom. You have the option to request top load preference, but since in most cases, the trucker will need to rearrange the whole trailer to accommodate that, there's a $75 fee (on average) for this service. If for safety or legal reasons truckers cannot accommodate such request, the fee will be waived or refunded. Please note that a trailer with a single deck is still considered top load as it ensures that there will be no vehicle above yours.
